6LoWPAN:
The Wireless Embedded Internet
By Zach Shelby and Carsten Bormann
Published by John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
We have just published the world’s first book on 6LoWPAN together with Carsten Bormann, co-chair of the IETF 6lowpan working group.
This book gives the complete picture of 6LoWPAN technology in one place, including deployment examples and implementation aspects. It is aimed at experts in the field, engineering students and lecturers. An accompanying web-site is available including course material, Contiki coding exercises, an author blog and other 6LoWPAN information.

Hello Zach,
Please put me on the pre-sale list. Let me know if you need me to purchase the book up front.
Hey Zach,
I’m doing a Masters Project at the moment on 6lowpan security. I’d be interested in having a look through your book so if you require it to be proof read let me know.
Regards
Mike
Thanks Mike, we will keep you in mind. Security is an area that needs plenty of work in the 6lowpan wg, so your help is definitely welcome there.

Hello Zach,
I’m working on energy-efficient reliable protocol for IP-based wireless sensor network. I’d use Contiki in my research and thus I’d have as soon as possible your book.
Best regards,
Ahmed
great!. we would be looking forward to that.
If you need anything on Management in the book, I offer my services for that.
Our contributed drafts are as follows:
http://tools.ietf.org/html/draft-hamid-6lowpan-snmp-optimizations-01

Hamid
Hamid,
We have a whole section on SNMP including references to your drafts. Thanks! Your work on SNMP and the MIB is important. Jennic is also using their own protocol called SNAP, which is sort of modeled on SNMP.

I’m happy to hear that.
Keep us posted about the publication progress.
I would also like to be on the pre-sale list.
Regarding pre-ordering, thanks
After Wiley officially puts the book up on http://www.wiley.com it will be possible to pre-order on-line there. That should be after a month or so. I’ll post a blog entry when it goes live.
The book is now officially up on Wiley’s web-page, and can even be ordered. The release date has been set to November 2009.

it’s so good. thank you for your informations.
Hi Zach,
I am a student in Sweden. I am learning the 6LoWPAN by myself. I read your book -The Wireless Embedded Internet, it is very nice and useful. Now I am trying to develop a simulator program about 6LoWPAN. The program has to handle the packets of sensor such as forwarding, modifaction and so on. However, I do not have any 6LoWPAN equipments. So it means I have to write the 6LoWPAN data packet by myself ( I use libpcap). I studied the 6LoWPAN format from your book and rfc 4944, but the study is just in theory. I never met a real 6LoWPAN packet. So I wish you can give me a hand. Could you send me some caputured packets of 6LoWPAN to me ? Thank you.
Hi Zach,
